About The Cake Tree.

"The Cake Tree" was first established in 1990 named after "Vandyke Bakery", that business was set up by a few Taiwanese new migrants, aiming to later expand to a chain business. But that idea was soon to be abandoned after facing all sorts of different and complicated problems which were never expected at beginning. The results were big money flushed down the drain.

Shirley and David Chen, we ran a costume jewelery business in Taiwan, a business greatly involved in fashion, formulation of colours, shapes etc. After taking over Vandyke Bakery, we started to apply the skills we had built up from our old business to create a niche market of designer cakes.

As the years have gone by we have witnessed many other cake shops open and close. Running a cake shop is an extremely difficult business,as most people only get married once in a life time or they don't even get married, and although most people have birthdays every year, but most people don't celebrate birthdays every year.

After years of endless efforts, we survived simply relying on people's word of mouth.
